Elvis was back! George Strait opened for Elvis Presley at the Throckmorton Senior Citizens
fundraiser last week, playing songs like “Amarillo by Morning” and “All my Exes live in Texas!”

Champions for Christ Saddle Series in Burkburnett, TX was taken by storm by the kiddos of Elbert TX. Dheaven Moses, Karter Noble, Ryder Moses all won first place in their divisions and a saddle.
Cheyenne Moses won first place in the peanut division and won a buckle. Cody Moses placed 2nd and received a buckle. Blake Jordan placed 3rd in his division and won saddle blanket and

Claire Ellis, of Woodson, was selected as the Texas Hereford
Sweetheart at the State Hereford Show held in Belton at the
beginning of June. Ellis applied for the position and then
went through the interview process and general election.
Ellis will serve in the capacity of Texas Hereford Sweetheart
for the period of one year. She was also elected as a youth
director for the year, won the illustrated speech contest,
placed 3rd in the quiz bowl individual, was on the first place
quiz bowl team, and placed 4th with her heifer, “Monica.”

The First Baptist Church of Woodson sent quite a few campers to youth camp this week, thanks to the help of their congregation and the help from the community. The kids headed out Monday

Third Grade Garden Thrives! Woodson ISD 3rd graders created a garden last school year and it is thriving this summer! Third
graders (incoming 4th graders) are encouraged to meet Mrs. N Ellis each Monday evening at 7 PM to harvest and to take home
their share of the crop. These two boys enjoyed last week’s harvest, especially those onions that they grew. The garden is incorporated
into all aspects of Nicole Ellis’s classroom, being used to aid in teaching each subject in 3rd grade.

It’s official we have 4 individuals that will be awarded the highest honor from the Texas FFA State Association. Wesley Mills, Hanna Miller, Emmari Munoz and Kylie Deaton have successfully met all the requirements to earn their Lonestar Degree! Congratulations Kylie Deaton, she was selection as a top 4 finalist with her Star in Agribusiness! She will interview during state convention in hopes of being named state champion!
